Help in trade shows
If you have a company or are just starting
one, it is hugely important to be well informed. The new
products, the ins and outs, the rumours and everything related
to the industry happens most of all in the trade shows. There
you will find the new things and what will soon be coming on
the market, meet the most qualified people, the factories,
their engineers, their commercial departments, and even the
founders of the companies. They all started from scratch one
day, some with more and some with less. Every year they show
us the progress, the trends and offer a great opportunity to
do business, aside from the passion.
If you are new to the sector or have never attended a fair,
you must be sure of what you are going there for. Some just
come to look and see every detail, to be up to date; others
come with great expectations, to close deals, sign contracts
or look for new business opportunities. The trade shows are
the ideal place for this. Trade shows offer a tremendous
variety of opportunities.
First of all, be realistic, and if you are coming for work,
take the show seriously, like a job which often can be intense
and exhausting. If you are simply coming to have fun, enjoy
it. The important thing is that when the exhibition is over
you are happy with your work, with what you have seen and go
home full of energy for the coming season.
Some people don’t take the trade shows seriously, for them it
is a burden when their companies send them to attend these
events. They waste their time and the time of the exhibitors.
Be coherent and respectful. Some people ask: why should I be
there for the entire duration of the fair if in just one day I
can see it all? We find this idea erroneous; sure they can
walk through all of it but they miss out on half of it and
normally don’t observe anything. A top level international
show requires each of the days to make the most of it. We
would even say that 4 or 5 days are not enough for some of the
biggest events. We are talking about over 1.000 exhibitors… in
one day? And do it all in a professional way? Then they must
be magicians! Get the maximum profit from the experience.
Don’t be boastful, if you are just going for one day because
you don’t have the time or can’t afford to be there longer,
that’s alright. Next year, if you can, make the effort to
cover all of it, or at least know your limitations. There are
many professionals with decades of experience in this business
and it would sound ridiculous to them if you say something
like that.
Trade shows are seriously important, so much so that they just
happen once in a year. If this is your first time, or find it
hard to get into that atmosphere, hiring the services of an
agent is the ideal thing to do and preferably not right during
the show itself, but some weeks in advance. Tell him of your
aspirations and once there you can count on someone who is on
your side and will make your time worthwhile.
