Events

The events which take place during the season are ideal occasions where to go and see, be seen and show.

Depending on the kind of event and the way your company participates in it, it must be planned differently. Companies who manufacture, distribute, develop, design or sell products go to these events too. Sometimes to exhibit, others just to look, gauge the sector and others as organizers or main sponsors of the event.

When the idea is to go and present your products in a trade show, there is a lot to do: design the stand, prepare the products, news and prototypes, do all the arrangements to book the space, plan the logistics, hire vehicles, hotels, etc. It is a lot of work which adds up to the regular everyday tasks of your company. The weeks prior to an event are crazy, during the event people work around till exhaustion, and if everything went right, when you go back to the office you will have to deal with a higher than normal work load. They are interesting investments and if everything goes well they are very profitable. You show your products, tighten the personal relationship with the clients you don’t see during the year, and if that alone weren’t enough, you have great chances of making new clients. Endless opportunities, this is why often you wonder if it is worth it to be there, attend, participate. You will get the answer if you take the chance.

If you are organizing an event in which your company will be the centre of attention, the work involved is similar to participating in a show where you present your products. One main difference is that the clients will be looking just at you, so nothing can go wrong. There is a bit of added pressure. If you just act as a sponsor of the event, then just the name and image of your company is at stake… that’s saying a lot. If things work well it will benefit you. If not it may harm you, but at least you won’t have to work your socks off, but pay the agreed amount to the organizer of the event and hope it is successful.

If you are going to visit an event, to see or be seen, you must also plan it well. Weeks ahead of time you have to start booking flights, hotels, vehicles, etc. You will also have to plan meetings, interviews and study the exhibitor list so when you are there you can go straight to the point. Because everything happens in just four of five days, a good planning is essential.
